Genedrive® IL28B ID Kit
Based on proprietary technology, Genedrive® is an innovative diagnostics system bringing molecular diagnostics to the point of need.
Genedrive® IL28B ID Kit provides rapid detection of Interleukin 28B genotype status from a human buccal swab within 50 minutes. It uses innovative technology which allows identification of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) from buccal cells, using a very simple workflow. The Genedrive® system and polymorphism genotyping capabilities make it an ideal solution for on-the-spot stratification, negating the need for costly and time consuming patient recall whilst central laboratory tests are processed (typically days to weeks). Similarly, the low instrument cost, simplicity of operation, and connectivity options, make it an ideal system for deployment to large numbers of coordinated trial sites.
An IL28B genotyping assay can be used to determine the likelihood of patients responding to treatment with peg-IFN. As many of the newly-approved direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) are being used in combination with peg-IFN and ribavirin treatment, currently IL28B testing is still relevant. In addition, in countries and territories which elect not to adopt the new treatments due to the high costs associated with treatment, an IL28B genotyping test may play a role in ascertaining patients that are more likely to respond to peg-IFN and ribavirin treatment.1
